Siouxland Farmer’s Market, Sioux City

7 Jun

The Sioux City Farmer’s Market is now underway, beginning in May, the market will continue until through Oct. 31 each Wednesday and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. It also opens on Mondays beginning July 16 through Sept. 24 3-7 p.m. There is quite a variety of fresh vegetable items as well as other baked goods, preserves and utilitarian items that individuals may be interested in checking out. The market is usually well attended and one is even able to grab breakfast most mornings with vendors serving of healthy omeletes and other edible goodies. I collaborated with the Betty Strong Encounter Center and created some photographs of the farmers market that are currently on display at the Center. The Center hosts a number of exhibits that tell stories about the surrounding Siouxland area and its residents. It’s well worth the time to check out. It sits next to the Sioux City Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center which recounts the Corp of Discovery Expedition by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark made for President Thomas Jefferson to explore the United States to the Pacific Coast.
