“The Country Vet, Artist: Carl Homstad

Sixteenth Mural

Dr. Marion L. McCormack was an early day veterinarian, highly respected by the rural area and community. After graduation from the Indiana Veterinary College, he and his wife Louise came to Rock Rapids in 1916 from Greensburg, Indiana. Whether it was the hog cholera epidemic or routine farm visits, Dr. McCormack know exactly what to do. Dr. McCormack’s attention to sanitation and cleanliness was unusual by early standards. He was certainly a man ahead of his time and an inspiration to future veterinary students.”
