During a small ceremony by the City of Sioux City, Iowa, commemorated the March on Washington’s 50th anniversary, Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, local NCAAP member former city human rights director RICHARD HAYES again asks the city’s city council to officially recognize Martin Luther King Jr.’s official holiday, something none of the city councils have done since holiday’s creation by Congress in 1986, When Hayes first asked that convening city council to do so. Even the state of Iowa and Woodbury County in which Sioux City is located now recognize Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
