Storms in Siouxland, Sioux City

5 Oct

This past evening a few powerful storms passed through the Siouxland area, never touching Sioux City itself, but a tornado touched down in Wayne, Nebraska, which is about an hour west of Sioux City, and there were reports of tornado damage east of Sioux City, about 10-15 miles. When I was younger and working for newspapers  I would have been chasing these storms and covering the damage that resulted. Mother Nature is an alluring creature, either in her calm, sedate Fall colors and changing seasons, or her powerful storms that wreaks unimaginable damage. Friday brought powerful snow storms hitting part of the West and upper Midwest, the rest got a blast of cold air mixing with the warmer air that had settled over this area a couple days previously.

By the grace of God the tornadoes and other storms passed north and south of Sioux City, but the night sky show was pretty amazing. I didn’t get many images, but these were a few I captured.
