Siouxland’s Bountiful Harvests, Vermillion, SD

22 Nov

The Siouxland area received a dusting of snow Thursday evening. A lot of it melted by Friday afternoon, if it was in the sun. The temperature dropped to 32 degrees after having hit the 50’s early in the week. So fall is fading, well, receding fast. In September I attended a Harvest Festival organized and sponsored by the Red Earth Co-op in Vermillion, South Dakota. It was held in the Clay County Park outside of Vermillion. The organization is looking to build membership to share in fostering organically grown food and sustainability. As well as creating a like-minded network of people who was to eat healthy and be environmentally responsible and live a well balanced life.

It was fun, and for the first ever Harvest Fest, a good turnout. Arts and crafts for the kids, music, skits and food. As well as some nice trails to work off those extra pounds enjoyed during the day.
