Siouxland snowfall means winter is coming

9 Dec

This past weekend a little snow fell in the Siouxland area, maybe 1-3 inches depending on which local TV news channel weather person you listened to. It was surprising that snow fell at all, with recent temperatures hovering around 5 degrees above zero, and mostly recording at 20 degrees below zero with the wind chill factored in. Siouxland received little snow as compared to what could be seen on the sports’ channels over the weekend at pro football teams played through the “haze” of falling snow. Some places received 8 inches.

But the light snow fall means winter is on its way, although the cold temps and light snow fall surely are two good indicators. This weekend’s snow wasn’t the first for the season, but it was measurably more around Sioux City than the last snow fall, which then fell more heavily farther north and east. Well, it will be a white Christmas anyway.
