Siouxland and Old Man Winter, Sioux City

2 Mar

March is here already in Siouxland with spring just barely 20 days away. And yesterday, more snow. This area of Iowa has not received as much snow as other areas in the state or as much as in the Northeast of the country. Personally, I like snow. The more the better it is to go snowshoeing in parks around the area. But this year, the issue for me isn’t the snow, but the temperature that seems to hover around zero and many times below that. Add in some brisk prairie wind and the wind chill some of these past days easily hit -30. I wished the temperature stayed around 20-30 degrees all winter and snowed all the time. The snow would melt at these temps too. But at least one could get out and “play” a bit without worrying about frostbite.
