Winter weather wonder in Siouxland

14 Apr

At some point this spring I hope I can finish writing about Winter. But it doesn’t seem as if Winter is done with Siouxland. I attended a local bike race in the morning where the bicyclists traversed a course that was taxing on its own. However, as a weather front moved in as the race began, it started sprinkling. At about 30 minutes into the race it began raining and then eventually sleeting. I didn’t stay until the end as I was soaked while photographing parts of the race. By the afternoon, it looked like winter was just beginning, again, and eventually left 2-3 inches of snow in the Sioux City area.

The riders in the race powered on, even as cross winds on part of the route nearly bowled them over, and on other parts became head winds that probably had their legs aching by the end. But die-hard enthusiasts in whatever sport or activity will continue until they finish. And these riders deserve kudos for sticking it out. Plus, they were treated to Twin Bings donated by the Palmer Candy Company, a race sponsor, and located in Sioux City.
