Orange City tulip festival
30 Apr
The Orange City, Iowa, tulip festival celebraes Dutch heritage, with a parade, and town residents participate by dressing in Dutch costumes, Friday, May 20, 2011. Part of the tradition of welcoming (velkomen) visitors to their community is the cleaning of the streets. The menfolk spread water onto the streets while the women then use brooms to clean them.
