Siouxland summer band concert, Sioux City

16 Jun

The Sioux City Municipal Band plays a series of summer time concerts in the band shell each year on Sunday evenings at Grandview Park in Sioux City. It is a nice setting. It was built during the depression as part of the Civil Works Administration (CWA) projects. Nestled at the bottom of a hill, the music wafts upward and outward and for an hour or so, transports those in attendance and living nearby to another era.

The concert series occur each Sunday evening, weather permitting, until the end of July or early August, depending on the calendar days and how they fall on Sunday. It’s a nice way to spend an evening enjoying the setting sun and the beauty of the park. While sadly it is not as well attended as other events, it is held in no less esteem by those who do attend and appreciate another venue of entertainment.
