Winter comes early to Siouxland

12 Nov

This week the tundra cold returns to Siouxland with temperatures dropping into singles digits overnight this week and daytime temps barely reaching the upper 20’s. Luckily, this area of the Midwest has not received a lot of snow yet, nothing like Minnesota and other parts north and in the mountains. But the frigid temps are here and with the prairie wind feeling pretty brutal.Photos of the Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve are deceiving with just a dusting of snow it looks pleasant. But add windchills and that pleasantness goes away. Recently the Adams Homestead celebrated its winter fest with carolers and other attendees visiting the grounds and enjoying the beginning of the holiday season.

But no doubt about it though. Winter is here, early. At least everyone knows the Thanksgiving Day bird is frozen and waiting for its appearance later this month.
