Siouxland Christmas hints, minus the snow, Bacon Creek

23 Dec

Went for a walk in a local city park the other day which circles a small lake that is spring fed. Bacon Creek Park has a nice loop path, paved, that is a favorite of walkers, both two-legged and four-legged with their owners. A drizzly kind of day, not many people were about. And with just a couple days left before Christmas, no snow as well. But that didn’t deter some eager elf to remind local folk that Christmas is almost here. At various points along the path, one could find red bows affixed to tree branches, a wreath placed before one particular tree and a wooden snowman ornament hanging on a tree off the path and almost hidden. For me it brightened the walk and made me curious who the person or persons it is that is placing the bows and wreath. A user of the park or someone with the city’s park department. A remembrance to someone or just a little holiday cheer. Without the snow, definitely the walking was easier, but the added elements added a nice holiday lift and cheer to a rather overcast and somber day.
