Prior to Christmas day, Siouxland received a light snowfall. People always enjoy having a “white” Christmas. As though there is something magical about it. And there is when the blanket of snow is measurable and light and powdery. A hush comes over the landscape and serenity seems to engulf whatever strife is occurring in that area. But this snowfall happened with high temperatures and didn’t remain very long. By early evening, most of the snow have returned to rain. Personally, I like to snowshoe and a measurable snowfall would have been fun. But on a practical level, I find shoveling rain to be less strenuous. So it was that I found some in a more northerly section of Siouxland and drove around a bit before the roads became slick. And it was nice to see the landscape change, if only for a short while.
