Spring arrival means Farmers Market in Siouxland, Sioux City

One way of gauging the seasons is through food. During the fall and winter months, it’s generally heavy meats and broth type meals to keep one’s system running in cold weather. But once spring comes around, it’s officially begun when the local farmers’ market is open for business, such as Sioux City’s Farmers’ Market. Local produce, spring greens, fresh baked goods and the beginning of a cornucopia of healthy foods locally grown. Today’s event was met with a light rain, and turnout early was lite. Not a lot of vendors and not many buyers. But the eats presented were excellent.
