Small town Siouxland, Aurelia

25 Oct

Still traipsing around Siouxland while the weather is nice, there seems to be no end to small towns in Iowa. Each with its owns charm, such as Aurelia. Like a lot of small communities, many have closed store fronts, but offer up a quaint charm and some interesting businesses, such as a floral shop in this community. And like a lot of these, a grain elevator anchors  one end of the downtown business district. Agriculture is a major industry in this area.

With a population just over 1,000, it is a quiet town during the day I stop by. Some of these communities I visit might well be a hub of activity during the weekend, and probably with special community events. But often I don’t visit the communities during those times and happen upon them while out driving about Siouxland.
