A winter’s blast and some nice photos in Siouxland, Sioux City

7 Dec

This past week the Siouxland area got hit by a fairly decent snow storm that produced a little over 6 inches of snow. Not a lot, but record setting for this time of year for that particular date. The nice thing is that unlike last year, the temps stayed in the upper 20’s and close to the 30’s so it was a pleasure to go out for a walk and see the snow. I walked over to a private college, Morningside College, that is only a few blocks from me. I am always amazed no matter how much snow has fallen or how cold it is, not all students seem to dress for that weather. I fund it puzzling, but I grew up in the Midwest and know what cold winters are like. And living in Siouxland there is always the prairie wind to contend with that adds a few degrees.

But it was a pleasant walk. Even with the wind the and the warmer temps, the snow clung to the trees and other items for a day and it made for a beautiful trek about to just enjoy nature and the wonder of winter time.
