Point of View in Siouxland, Vermillion, SD

7 Mar

A person’s point of view is everything at times in photography. Depending on the context of the photograph a viewer can interpret a photograph however he/she sees it. On an outing in early February at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD I was walking about this Siouxland campus. The clouds were interesting that day. And being that it’s still winter, depending on where I pointed the camera, one could interpret my trip as a nice sunny day, which it was however though a very cold sunny day with the starting temp hovering somewhere around 10 degrees. As I was walking up to a campus building I was checking out some of the “ornamental” vegetation and was struck by the cattails standing tall, and snow behind them. The image somehow seemed out of place. But not being there in person, a viewer of the two images could well imagine the scenes were recorded at different times of the year.
