Summer Light in and out of Siouxland, Bushnell, NE

30 Jun

When I took a trip to western Nebraska I was up early one morning and doing a bit of a walk about. The light around 6:30-7 a.m. was pretty directional and intense for such an early morning. But west of Siouxland maybe there is just less atmospheric interference and less cloud cover unless there is weather.

I like hard directional light. It does give character to whatever you are shooting. And adds a little something extra to the image. And sometimes that extra is needed just to entice the viewer to dawdle a little longer at one one has photographed.

Jerry, My photographs are few and far between and I don’t think much about technical points so I appreciated what you said about directional light and that within Siouxland, one might have more atmospheric interference. This is very interesting to one who didn’t even consider such details.

    Becky,

Whether you shoot a few photos or many, “seeing” your image is the first step, but then utilizing the light at that moment is the next step to help you create an image you hope others will view and appreciate as you did of the moment you captured that image.
