Returning to the Falls in Siouxland, Falls Park, Sioux Falls, SD

I want to make another trip north yet this fall to Falls Park in Siouxland which is located in Sioux Falls, SD. Pronouncements by the U.S. Corp of Engineers is that water runoff from the north that travels through the Sioux Falls area and then south to the Sioux City and other parts of Siouxland is expected to remain high. And if there is abundant snow this winter and rainfall next spring, the water levels in area rivers including the Big Sioux and Missouri River may not come down to what is usually “normal” until sometime in the future, say maybe a year or so.

The park is so picturesque and many people visit. I have seen online photos of a light display during the winter months that looks wonderful and enchanting. Currently though, the trees must be turning at this point and an afternoon sun should set them on fire on a sunny day.

My last visit the weather was warm for a September day, but no complaints. In a few weeks time I will be wistfully thinking of those warm days as the wind howls over the prairie in gusts of 30 to 40 mph making a 15 or 20 degree day feel more like 0 or minus 5. And then I will long for the sunny days and watching people enjoy themselves and what the park has to offer and a chance to sit, relax and muse. Never a bad combination on a good day.
