Besides everything else these days Mother Nature still hasn’t decided if spring is here to stay in Siouxland. Recently the temperature was at 70 degrees and it was a pleasant change to the blustery days previously with rain here and there. Now a very cold front is moving into the area and more snow, or at least freezing rain is predicted. It won’t last long, but it feels like it’s time for winter to retire for the season.

A pair of cardinals were enjoying some treats in a nearby feeder then retreated to a bush as gusty winds blew through the area. I was surprised to see water crystals on each of their crowns so I am guessing these two are hoping for spring to actually stick around with this latest temperature change and at least sunny days in the foreseeable future.

The cardinals here are hard to capture. Every time I go to the window they fly further away. It seems the smaller birds have more bravado.
Sharon, there are a couple of you g cardinals that always fly and land near me, but never when I have a camera, like they are teasing me. Couple of teenagers having fun. They are fun to watch. And currently am spending the time just watching and learning. Jerry
I feel like they are teasing me, ha! Either that or they really are chickens of the bird world.
I slapped card board with a 3″ hole on the front window in front of the bird feeder. Amazing the photo captures using the tri pod ❗️ 🙂
The sounds of the birds are such a welcoming sound right now– as are (strangely enough) lawn mowers! 🙂 The “normal” seems so important right now!
