Sometimes I think there are too many places to see and events to do around the Christmas holiday in and around Siouxland. And sometimes it takes more than one trip to catch various activities occurring. It took a couple of trips to Omaha and the Durham Museum to see its Christmas tree and the eventual decorated effort that it took to get it ready.
What looks like simple ornaments and baubles that are hung on the tree are actually larger than life items which will eventually decorate it and make it look like every Christmas tree one could find in people’s homes, if they lived in large castles or similarly large structures. I didn’t have the time when I first visited to see workers handling the ornaments for a size comparison.
But on my second trip to check out another exhibit the tree was decorated and ready for its debut to the public as the days begin ticking down until jolly Ol’ Saint Nick makes his appearance around the world deliver toys and joy. And hopefully a few well deserved lumps of coal to those folk who truly deserve them. The tree just makes the season a bit more joyous with anticipation and bigger than life reminder that Christmas Day will arrive soon.
I live in the Siouxland area that encompasses a wide swatch of land in northwest Iowa, northeastern Nebraska and southeastern South Dakota. The people that inhabit this area are generous folk and your basic honest, Midwestern people you like to have as neighbors. I explore the area and share observations, mostly photographic, sometimes through video, and and short text. All images and video are copyrighted material of the author.

Very nice tree. Just think how frustrating it would be if one bulb went out.
Big haystack, yes. And look at all those “needles”!
